The print process in TaxAct will generate a Portable Document Format (PDF) file which can be viewed, printed, or saved. As all supported browsers now have PDF readers, Adobe Acrobat Reader is not required to print a PDF copy.
Online program users: For the security of your personal information, a printed or digital copy of your TaxAct Online return is available only by signing into your account and printing or saving it yourself. We can’t mail, fax, or email a paper or electronic copy.
Online return printing:
- From within your TaxAct Online return, click Print Center down the left to expand, then click Return. On mobile/smaller devices, click in the upper left-hand corner, then choose Print Center.
- Enter the number of Federal and/or State copies you would like to print or save.Click the printer icon, the save icon, or the download icon (available when you hover over the PDF form).
Online individual forms printing:
- From within your TaxAct Online return, click Print Center down the left to expand, then click Custom Print.
- Check the items you want to print (you may need to scroll down in the section to locate the items), then click Print.
- Click the PDF link.
- Click the Printer icon, the Save icon, or the Download icon (available when you hover over the PDF form).
What if I get a message that says my return fees haven't been paid?
- Open return and go through the steps of efiling the return again.
- If the return has not been paid, then pay and for the return.
- Continue through the steps until the unpaid fee is processed.
- Repeat the same steps to print.
- If the return has been paid and it cannot print, contact customer support to verify.
Once verified, repeat the steps to print.
Desktop/download users: To print your return or individual forms, you must have the TaxAct program and return file on your computer. If you no longer have the return file, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to request a copy. TaxAct does not retain copies of returns that were prepared and e-filed with the TaxAct Desktop program.
